For me the most arresting moment is that of pure personality captured in a single frame. I shoot the fleeting gesture, the emotional trigger, the flash of fury that telegraphs stubbornness, whimsy, mischief, loss, sincerity, strength and longing. I want it all — the sidelong gaze, the defiant shriek, the bashful glance, even a good old fashioned dirty look.
In over 30 years with camera in hand I've never stopped being thrilled by the number of emotions crystalized in an honest face. I continue to find much that illuminates the upside of our common experience. That's why I shoot.
